After few coats of mineral oil, the finish wears well with proper maintanace. This Oxo brand spoon more than excels over those more expensive, and over rated spoons. I purchased this spoon to replace some Mario Batali spoons that were of very poor quality. The word "small" in the product description is an understatement. It has a very smooth finish with a large, comfortable handle that reduces fatigue. It is the perfect size for most task. This is a normal sized spoon, right at 12" long. Will definetly be ordering more wooden spoons from this line.
Good product at a reasonable price. I buy these kinds of things when I want something else which is slightly under $25. So I buy something cheap to enable me to get the free shipping.
It's also very smooth unlike some of the cheaper wooden spoons. This wooden spoon is perfect. It has a nice wide handle to grip and a large base for stirring and scooping. "Small" is misleading though. I would call it "regular." The large one isn't much bigger, but if you're like me and just want one, I would go with this size.

But the spoon split the second time I used it. I purchased this spoon and the turner. I've had spoons from C&B or WS and they have worked fine. The turner is fine. I used it a few times when cooking - even frying and using a tagine. I liked this one because of the handle. Well, that's good money down the drain.
